As 2022 comes to an end and we look forward to a new year, it's more true than ever that the world of work is changing rapidly. We wanted to share with you our analysis of current and future trends, and what new challenges and opportunities they promise to bring.
In 2023, we can expect to see the continuation of the trends we've seen over the past year, as well as some new developments. that will shape the way we work in the years to come.
Remote work continues to take root, thanks to technology
A work trend that will continue in 2023 is the rise of remote working. The pandemic has democratized its adoption, and many businesses are now integrating it permanently. This trend is expected to continue as businesses recognize the benefits of remote working, including increased productivity and cost savings.
This rise in remote working is simultaneous with another trend that we can expect to see in 2023: the increased integration of technology in the workplace, which is constantly digitizing. From virtual meetings and collaboration tools to artificial intelligence and automation, technology will continue to play a central role in the way we work.
The need for manager training
The new work requirements of employees and talents left managers completely helpless in 2022.
They are under pressure from both the top and the bottom: they must both put in place a structure that meets the company's goals in terms of hybrid work in particular, while giving meaning to their team's work and responding to their needs and concerns in an uncertain climate.
Local managers are now the colleagues with whom employees interact most regularly, and 60% of hybrid employees say that their direct manager is their most direct link to company culture according to a Gartner study, putting considerable pressure on their shoulders.
In 2023, it will therefore be vital to ease the pressure on managers. To do this, companies have two levers: training updated to the new challenges of hybrid work, and providing the right tools to respond to them.

Flexibility as a watchword
We can also expect to see greater emphasis on flexibility and agility in the workplace.
As businesses adapt to changing market conditions, the ability to adapt quickly to each employee (their specificities, needs, desires) and easily will be the key to success. For example, a recent Gartner study showed that 52% of employees say that flexible working policies will influence their decision to stay at their company.
Offering increased flexibility while remaining competitive may involve the use of flexible office space, on-demand services, and other tools that allow businesses to be agile and responsive.

A better experience for frontline workers
While the hybridization of work now seems to be in place for office jobs, frontline workers are now asking for equivalent rights - and we understand them!
According to the Gartner 2022 Frontline Worker Experience Reinvented Survey, 58% of organizations that employ frontline workers have invested in improving the employee experience over the past year and about a third of those who have not done so intend to do so in the next 12 months. The same study shows that the main attraction factors for this segment are:
- A check on working hours;
- Additional paid leave;
- Stability in the schedules.
While the latter are the main ones to stand out, flexibility is also becoming an imperative in the missions proposed, and the people with whom an employee works.
The best is yet to come
All in all, 2023 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the future of work. As we continue to adapt and evolve, it's clear that the way we work will continue to change. These new needs will require energy in project management, and especially adapted tools and agile teams - and we look forward to helping you in these challenges!
