What do businesses want?

The return to face-to-face represents a real opportunity for businesses. Indeed, successive lockdowns have weakened social ties that existed within organizations. Despite the measures that have been taken to maintain it, such as videoconferences, e-learning or the offer of psychological support, many employees believe that virtual social ties do not compensate for the physical reality of a day at the office.

Companies thus express the desire to give new impetus to the dynamics of teamwork. Managers, in particular, dread remote work because they don't always know how to engage remote employees or how they can motivate them to return to the site.

And employees in all this?

Employees, on the other hand, are not all enthusiastic about the idea of returning 100% to their workplace. Their concept of professional life has been transformed by the health crisis. According to the study carried out by the data platform Dynata, 36% of employees want to go to their workplace every day, while 27.4% of them would prefer to be able to work remotely. The rest would prefer a hybrid solution: they want to alternate between remote and face-to-face.

The preferences differ according to the habits and characters of each person: some experience a feeling of loneliness that is too intense at a distance, others feel less effective on site. Despite their differences, all of these groups recognize that it is imperative to take measures that promote social ties.

An answer for all: the hybrid solution

To ensure that all actors in the business world are satisfied with their professional situation, the idea of a hybrid solution seems relevant. The aim would be to allow employees to return to their professional environment, which is more user-friendly, without forcing them to take public transport every day. The formula would therefore be as follows: one to three days of teleworking, and the rest of the week at the office. The logistical organization that results from such a configuration involves setting up mechanisms to promote exchanges within companies.

The on-site experience must in fact be synonymous with interactions to make up for the lack of social ties that employees have been experiencing for several months. However, the health restrictions that continue to apply are likely to delay the implementation of real measures to establish relationships between employees.

In this context, teleworking is likely to continue on a sustainable basis. Find the tool M-Work that simplifies the entire organization of hybrid work, and making it simple, collaborative, and intelligent.
