Three years ago, Edouard, my co-founder, and I embarked on a mission to make work more flexible, for good.

But as with all start-ups, the road to achieving this vision has not been a long, easy one.

The m-work adventure started in June 2021, with nothing more than two old laptops, a lot of naivety and relentless motivation.

Station F, an emblematic place for startups in Paris, has become the birthplace of M-Work - a company that originally believed in one thing: work was changing, but most businesses weren't adapting quickly enough.

Our beginnings were marked by uncertainty, but also by a strong conviction that businesses needed better tools to adapt to the changing nature of work.

What really propelled m-work forward, however, was the trust of a handful of first-time customers. These courageous companies didn't just believe in our product, they believed in our vision and our energy. It is this trust that has allowed m-work to evolve from a nascent idea to the platform it is today.

In 2024, m-work can boast a team of diverse and talented individuals, united by a common goal: to provide innovative and flexible planning solutions to more than 150 companies around the world.

Of the hybrid work management unto optimizing team activities using data, we are proud to say that our product has become an indispensable tool for organizations that navigate the complexities of changes in their work environments.

Building flexibility, feature by feature

The m-work journey has been marked by constant evolutions - in terms of the product, but not only that. Our platform has evolved along with the needs of our customers.

We integrated AI-based solutions, developed deeper analytics, and ensured seamless integrations with existing systems.

Whether it's enabling activity-based work or empowering businesses to harness team collaboration, each feature we've developed has been designed with a core mission in mind: help organizations understand, optimize, and build a better workplace and team organization.

Meeting the challenges of a start-up's life

Of course, the evolution of m-work has not been without some obstacles. As “first-time” entrepreneurs, we had to quickly learn how to start a business, find the right talent, and convince investors and customers that we were a solution worth betting on. In a highly competitive market and at a time when investment funds were becoming scarce, every step forward felt like a small victory.

But through all these challenges, one lesson emerged: the importance of resilience. A startup's journey is a continuous cycle of trial, error, and adaptation. For every signed customer or new feature, there are countless ideas that don't work. The key for us was persistence. If one thing out of ten works, try a hundred, and ten will work.

In addition, listening to our customers was decisive. Their feedback is our most valuable fuel, and we've discovered that by staying flexible, open to change, and always ready to learn, we can build solutions that truly meet their needs.

What's next: The future of work is flexible

As I reflect on the past three years, I feel a huge sense of pride in how far m-work has come.

It is only the beginning. Work is evolving at a breakneck pace. Today's challenges - hybrid work, team dynamics, new aspirations, and economic challenges - will soon give rise to new demands that we can't even fully predict yet.

Our mission, which consists in making flexibility a factor of performance, remains as relevant as ever. And thanks to the continued support of our customers, investors, and team, I am confident that m-work will continue to play a critical role in building the future of work.

A big thank you to everyone who has been part of this adventure so far. We are incredibly excited about what the next chapter has in store for us. There is still so much to build and we are just getting started.

Together we are making the world a bit more flexible - team by team
