Business strategy

A “business strategy” is a set of decisions and action plans developed by a company's management to achieve its long-term goals and achieve its vision. This strategy guides the company in allocating its resources and orienting its activities in order to maintain or strengthen its market position, achieve sustainable growth, and create value for its stakeholders, including shareholders, customers, customers, employees, and society as a whole.

Setting up a business strategy generally involves the following steps:

  • Environmental Analysis: In-depth assessment of the market, competition, industry trends, and economic, social, political, and technological factors that may influence the business.
  • Definition of vision and mission: Establishing a long-term vision of what the company aspires to become and its reason for being (its mission) in the context of its market and its core values.
  • Establishing strategic goals: Defining clear and measurable goals that define the direction the company wants to take. These goals should be consistent with the vision and mission of the company.
  • Identification of competitive advantages: Determination of internal strengths and weaknesses of the company as well as external opportunities and threats to define key competitive advantages.
  • Choice of strategies: Selection of strategic approaches (e.g., differentiation, cost leadership, diversification, organic growth, etc.) to achieve strategic goals.
  • Implementation and execution: Establishment of concrete action plans to implement the strategy, allocate the necessary resources and monitor progress.
  • Evaluation and adjustment: Regular monitoring of results in relation to strategic objectives and adjustment of the strategy according to changes in the market and the competitive environment.

An effective business strategy is critical in helping an organization navigate a complex and ever-changing business environment. It helps align business activities with clear goals, maximize available resources, and make informed decisions to ensure the sustainability and growth of the business.
