Management through trust

“Management through trust” is an approach to human resources management and leadership that is based on the belief that trust is a key element in promoting performance, collaboration, and job satisfaction within an organization. Instead of focusing on controlling and monitoring employees, management through trust is based on mutual trust between managers and team members.

Here are some key characteristics and principles of management through trust:

  • Mutual trust: Leaders trust their employees to make decisions and do their jobs independently, while employees trust leaders to support and guide them as needed.
  • Accountability: Employees are responsible for their results and actions. They are encouraged to take initiative and to be autonomous in carrying out their tasks.
  • Open communication: There is open and transparent communication between managers and employees. Concerns, ideas, and feedback are encouraged and valued.
  • Professional Development: Management through trust encourages the professional development of employees by providing them with the opportunities and resources they need to acquire new skills and advance in their careers.
  • Flexibility: This approach allows for greater flexibility in terms of working time, location, and working methods, to meet the individual needs of employees.
  • Results-based assessment: Rather than focusing on being present in the office or respecting working hours, performance evaluation is based on results and goals achieved.
  • Team cohesion: Management through trust promotes collaboration within teams, because members trust each other and their leaders.
  • Positive company culture: This approach often helps create a positive company culture where employees feel valued, respected, and motivated.

Management through trust can be particularly effective in work environments where creativity, innovation, and autonomous decision-making are essential. However, it requires ongoing commitment from leaders to cultivate trust and create an environment that is conducive to business success and employee well-being.
