Workcation

A “workcation” is a neologism formed from the fusion of the words “work” and “vacation”. This term refers to a practice where a person combines remote work with vacations. In other words, a workcation allows an individual to work while enjoying a vacation environment.

During a workcation, a person can take their laptop or work tools, move to a vacation location of their choice (such as a seaside resort, tourist destination, rental house, etc.) and work from there while enjoying the benefits of a relaxing environment. This approach allows workers to balance their work responsibilities with the opportunity to take vacations, recharge their batteries, and discover new places, without having to take time off officially.

Workcation has become more popular with the rise of remote working, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, where many businesses allowed their employees to work from anywhere. This gave workers the freedom to choose temporary work destinations while staying connected to their jobs.

However, it's important to note that workcation requires some discipline to maintain a sufficient level of productivity while enjoying vacation time, and there can be challenges related to jet lag, time management, and the separation of work and personal life.
